A long time ago in a galaxy far far away

Och aye the noo too a' ye wee yins!
Nope I haven’t just inhaled a can of IRN BRU, for those who still haven’t clicked, it was 'Scots' I wa' bletheren (was talking), reason being there was a customer in today with a beautifully strong accent (Glaswegian) and I took a full moment to soak it in. Indeed because Perth is the international mixing pot that it is, I can walk from one aisle to the next at work and find myself listening to a different language, as if I’d momentarily stepped across to another country instead of only a few yards.

However my steps extended to another galaxy when I came across Darth Vader in a push chair. Some child had got hold of a mask of said Star Wars character and was yelling on the top of his voice (to himself, and un-intentionally to everyone in his immediate vicinity), though unfortunately he wasn’t attempting to mimic Darth’s vocals. Either way it certainly made me smile.

My weekend was nice, went a tad further northward geographically to Mindarie for a spot of brunch with a friend. It was cool because the café was on the edge of the harbour and it had that summer holiday feel (it was a nice 27*C and cloudless, a welcoming change from the rain we’ve been having recently - see pic below). I’m guessing most of you think that my year abroad is just one big holiday anyway but with a 32 hour weekday job, I assure you that it certainly feels like your standard working life. Anyway back to the waterfront, Jas (said friend) had spent the past 10 years in Melbourne, so she succinctly persuaded me to put her city on my travel plans when I go ‘over east’ (what the locals say when they refer to East Australia). I also happened to come across a native Kiwi (New Zealander) who was the Estate Agent that was selling a house to Hannah and Leo and he happily drew up a route of travel around NZ, and a Singapore girl from my football team promised to write down a list of all the best places to eat for when I’m viisit her home city. So all in all it would seem I have to do little of my own research to plan my upcoming trip around Asia, NZ and Oz, useful as I seem to have little spare time to do much else at the moment (writing this blog is taking away tonight’s sleep time).

I went out for 10 pin bowling and a chinese meal with some of the girls from my football team last friday, which was a laugh, the bowling being less than serious as I’ve ever played it as we tried to come up with inventive ways of bowling the ball down the aisle; including planking (lying flat on stomach) and throwing between the legs, sitting down… surprisingly my score wasn’t too bad using the alternative methods, may have to use them more often. One result of the night sees the inclusion of a bright red hair-bow into the team kit we wear for our games. As I am normally keen for a dare, I have to wear it at this weekend’s game as Denise wore it last weekend and we won (the 2 conditions that I agreed to wearing it for the next game). Bows are so my thing…

Anyway yea I think bed time now ensues for moi. Hope you are all keeping well!

Ha' a bonny nicht!

P.s. Had my guitar out the other night (a first in a while) and it was looking rather photogenic so...
