You know when you’ve heard the store’s music playlist one too many times when you start singing the next track in your head as the preceding one ends. Thankfully after 2 weeks they’ve changed the cd… luckily the latest compiled set doesn’t contain any songs that I really like, so I won’t end up detesting them in 2 weeks-time (the cd gets repeated a minimum 3 plays per day I think).
Other quirks of work include the ‘static shock’ roulette that occurs when you’re moving around the goods cages/ rails which sporadically give you the aforementioned sensation. I am now half anticipating it but it still catches me by surprise when it happens.
One thing that has also come to my attention through work is, I would like to know who was the ‘smart Aleck’ who decided that smaller size items (i.e. shoe sizes… but every other soft-goods are applicable) should be put on the top rail and the larger items on the bottom? It makes no sense! Generally if the person has small feet then they will be small in stature, so putting the item on the top shelf just seems a sort of cruel joke. And likewise for the large foot generally tall person has to inconveniently bend all the way down to the lowest rack to find their desired shoe.
… Saying that, it was probably some-one like me who has larger feet/smaller height (or visa versa) and thus the system works perfectly… but I empathise for the ‘average Joe’.
These minor inconveniences out of the way, I got to experience my first drive-in cinema yesterday. After seeing plenty on American movies, I didn’t want to miss the opportunity of experiencing one in a country where sitting outside at night-time wouldn’t freeze you to the bone. Saying that I didn’t actually sit outside (though others did), we (me and Denise, fellow 11aside centre-midfield team mate) opted for sitting in the car with a big rug and hot beverages, whilst another team mate, Cazzy and her daughter were in the parked car parked next to us. It was thoroughly more fun than the cinema, the plus’ being; adjustable seats, not being distracted by other people, have you own conversations without distracting others, no one blocking your view of the screen. So, yea I'll be doing that again if I get the chance. The venue itself is a permanent facility, with café and toilets at the back and you tune into the film’s sound through your car radio. All in all pretty neat.
We won our 11-aside football game at the weekend (though lost last Thursdays 5-aside game, I end up playing against some my 11aside team mates in this league, so always a bit of banter there) and work is chugging along nicely too :)
Hope work, exams, school, life is going well for all you back home, oh and have a good Diamond Jubilee (bank holiday) this weekend :)
God Save the Queen!
