Talking furniture

No, I have not accidently wondered into the mansion of an oversized animated man-wolf (see Beauty and the Beast), which is a good thing as the prior chase-scene in the forest involving Belle’s father always scared me when I was a young wiper snapper. I came across the occurrence of talking furniture at work… again no, Australia do not have some hi-tech upholstery, it was just my lateral thinking of the tannoys asking ''Can furniture call …'' Yes, I can keep myself amused very easily.

Anyhow in other matters:

Baby – check
Puppy – check

Micah Samuel Bergmann was born in the early hours of Sunday morning weighing in at a rather large 9.9lb and 54cm, he certainly dominates the heavyweight category of the baby arena. Both mum, baby and dad are doing fine and I visited them after my football game with the rest of the family. This was the first time I’ve been to hospital in Australia and my first thoughts was ‘how small’, only two floors! Then again I have been used to the Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield, where the number of floors takes up most of the alphabet! (I say ‘used’ to, I was thankfully not a frequent user of the facilities other than the library and sometimes the canteen). The scale of building was reflected in the main reception which had a receptionist twiddling on the computer, an assortment of vending machines, the telly on a sports channel and… very few people… really very different from my previous experiences. Then again this was a Sunday afternoon, which isn’t renowned for heavy footfall, I am assured though by a receptionist-football friend that the weekend nights follow the norm (and best avoided).

Puppy or more accurately ‘Poppy’ as she is so named arrived on Monday, doted on by her mistress Allie. In all due credit, the pup is a very quick learner (regarding bowl movements) and after a few ‘mishaps’, she can control herself until placed outside in the designated area. I am impressed.  I have not had much time to observe the pup further as what with hospital visits/ football training/ late shift at work, I find myself rather pre-occupied (hence the time taken to get out a blog about all that’s been going on).

As if that’s not all the happenings, I also managed to catch up with a university friend (Tom) who is currently over here visiting his relatives. We met up in the city centre and had a stroll along the riverside and to a few sites of interest he had not yet seen and snapped a few photo’s (tactically removing jumpers/coats to give the impression that it is warm over here), I assure you my coat and I are firm friends these days and I’m told it may get down to the minus’ (temperature) this weekend albeit this is very rare for Perth.

Also Christian is back from seminary, which fills up the picture even more so what with everything going on. It’s been busy times indeed, many more events than what I normally fit into one week, but all enjoyable, so that’s fine with me.

That’ll do me for now as I have to be up early tomorrow for work and reverting back to the title, my bed is certainly calling me!
