Matter of fact

Football was pretty rough this weekend, they had a few ‘bricks’ in the opposition and it would appear that they were trying to disprove that fact that no two things can occupy the same space at the same time but their attempts were unsuccessful and the result was me being flat out on the floor and winded.

I wasn’t expecting a similar assault during work today, but a young child with too much kinetic energy collided with my legs whilst I was carrying an armful of shoes… however this time i had the greater mass so was left upright and the child received an important lesson in the laws of physics.

Science aside, onto geography, I observed that the lake I mentioned in the Kookaburra post is slowly filling up, when I took as stroll down to the park after a morning shift and enjoyed relaxing on the small jetty watching the gulls and ducks fight over breadcrumbs. This recalled nice childhood memories of feeding the wildlife at the local parks… ah simple times :)
I was back at the bowling alley again on Friday, this time with the extended family I’m staying with. Even though I'm getting all this practice I don’t reckon my game has improved, so I can safely say I’ll be sticking to the ball sports I know best.

Weather wise (because everyone likes a weather update) Perth is enjoying a warm spell, whilst the rain has currently abated. I am certainly being spoilt rotten as (near) cloudless days are rather common here, though don’t turn too green as because of my job hours I can arrive at work before the sun has risen and finish when the sun has set (it is a month until the winter solstice for us, thus daylight hours are in a squeeze at the moment). I do wear a cardigan and scarf for the morning walks to work and I noted last week during football training (evening time, outdoors) that it was cold enough to see my own breath. It may transpire that I will need a coat for July and August (but that wouldn’t be too different to life back home). The cold is emphasised here because most houses don’t have heatering systems and the buildings do not retain heat well so yes I do need a duvet and a quilt at night.

So, on that cold note,

Ilaanilu (Inuit)
